On airInside the lineup
Every provider quotes a huge count of IPTV channels. Ours are 40,000, 60,000 and 80,000+, depending on the plan.

Those numbers are true, but they don’t mean 80,000 different networks. This page explains what is actually inside a lineup, how it is organized, and how to turn it into a guide you can use with one remote.
TL;DRThe short answer
A count of IPTV channels includes every country, every quality version of the same channel, backup feeds, event channels and 24/7 channels. The useful question isn’t the total, it’s whether your groups are there and whether the guide works. Favorites and hidden groups make any lineup manageable.
CH 02The honest version
A cable package lists one line per network. An IPTV list lists one line per stream. If a popular sports network is available in 4K, Full HD, HD and as a backup feed, that’s four entries. Multiply that across dozens of countries and the numbers climb fast.
That’s not a trick, and the extra versions are useful: the HD version saves bandwidth on a phone, and the backup feed is the first thing to try if the main one struggles during a big game. But it does mean you should never compare providers on the total alone.
The question to ask is narrower: are the groups you watch there, and does the guide show what’s on? That’s where IPTV channels win or lose for a household.
CH 03Anatomy
Channels are grouped by country, with a prefix such as US, UK, MX or IN on the group name. A typical US home uses three or four groups.
Many channels appear in 4K, FHD and HD. On Standard HD you get the FHD and HD versions; 4K entries come with Premium 4K and Lifetime Max.
Busy channels often have a second source. Same programs, different server path.
Placeholders that only carry a picture during a scheduled event. Outside that window they’re blank, which is normal.
Channels that loop one series or one film collection all day. Good background TV, especially for kids.
A section apart from live TV, sized by plan: 90,000, 200,000 or 250,000+ films and episodes to browse.
CH 04Worked example
Take a national sports network as an example. In a large lineup it can show up as a 4K version, an FHD version, an HD version and a backup, inside the US sports group. Then the same network appears again in a second regional feed, and once more in an East and a West version so the schedule matches your time zone. That’s seven entries for one network.
Now take a country like Colombia. Its group might hold 40 or 50 entries: national news, regional channels, music, kids, and a few sports channels with HD and FHD versions. Add up 100-plus country groups like that, the US groups, the 24/7 channels and the event placeholders, and you get to 40,000 or 60,000 without padding.
The East and West versions are more useful than they sound. If you live in Denver or Phoenix, watching the West feed of a network means prime time starts closer to your own evening.
CH 05Side by side
The core US and international groups are in every plan. Higher tiers add depth, quality versions and replay.

CH 06The guide
The electronic program guide is a separate data file that your player downloads and matches to each channel by an ID. When it works, you see what’s on now and next, and a grid for the coming days.
When the grid is empty for one channel, the match failed for that channel, usually because the source changed. When the whole guide is hours off, it’s almost always the app’s time zone or EPG offset, not the service. Most players let you shift the guide by whole hours; the setting’s name varies by app version.
Players also differ in how fast they load guide data. With 60,000 IPTV channels, TiviMate handles the grid well on a Firestick 4K; IPTV Smarters Pro is fine but slower to open the full guide on older sticks. Our IPTV player comparison goes app by app.
CH 07Step by step
Do this once on each TV. After that, the remote shows your channels, not everybody’s.
In your player, go to Live TV and look at the group names. Note the three or four groups your house actually watches.
Most players let you hide groups; TiviMate and XCIPTV do it from the group menu, Smarters from its settings. Names vary by version.
For each channel you watch, choose the quality that fits that TV: 4K on the big screen, HD on the bedroom set.
Long-press or use the menu button to add a channel to Favorites. Twenty favorites cover most families.
Make Favorites the start-up group. From then on, pressing OK lands on your own short list.
Trigger an EPG refresh in the settings so the grid fills in for the channels you kept.
Coverage of local network affiliates depends on the market. Big metro areas are usually there; smaller markets vary. Our guide to local channels explains how to check.
If it’s an event channel, it only carries a picture during its event. If it’s a regular channel, try its other version in the same group, then tell us on WhatsApp.
Ask on WhatsApp for the groups you care about and we’ll check them. A full list of 60,000 lines isn’t very useful to read; a check of your 20 channels is.
Only if you need the extra depth, 4K versions or replay. Many homes watch fewer than 50 channels on any plan. See the plan-by-household guide.
Many US networks run two feeds three hours apart. On the West Coast, the West feed puts prime time at the time the listings say. On the East Coast, the West feed works like a three-hour replay for shows you missed.
Only the 4K entries, on Premium 4K or Lifetime Max, on a 4K TV or device with about 15 Mbps to spare. Our 4K IPTV guide covers which content really is 4K.
Yes. Music is a category of its own, and many country groups carry their own music channels as well. They make good background audio on a TV or a phone while you cook.
Yes. All three plans include the EPG guide for live channels.
Small changes happen most weeks as sources move; bigger reshuffles are rarer. Favorites survive most of them. If one goes blank, look for its twin in the same group before anything else.
Most apps number channels in list order, which has nothing to do with cable channel numbers. Favorites are the way to get a short, ordered row, and several apps let you drag them into whatever order you like.
